Patek Philippe

The company was founded in Geneva in 1839 by Polish Antoine Norbert de Patek (1812-1877) and the Polish watchmaker François Czapek. Antoine Norbert de Patek had fled the Poland and arrived in Geneva. The two partners growing disagreeing, Czapek ceded its place to the french engineer Jean Adrien Philippe that Patek met in 1844 at the Exposition Universelle de Paris. It is this engineer who invented a pocket easily reassembled (by a Crown) watch and it was also he who adapted the pantograph for the manufacture of watches (required the company). In 1845 the House Patek Czapek and C ° is dissolved; Antoine Norbert de Patek, Jean Adrien Philippe and Vincent Gostowski founded in Geneva the Patek company and C °. In 1851, the three men changed the name to Patek Philippe & C °1. The brand was taken over by the Stern family in 1932 who still owns.
